Nelson

Nelson is a small, picturesque fishing and holiday township of about 350 people located at the mouth of the Glenelg River in the south-western corner of Victoria.
It may only be 5 km from the South Australian Border but this picturesque town is very much a “part of the Limestone Coast”.
Nelson is surrounded by scenic countryside, the value of which has been recognised through the declaration of Lower Glenelg National Park, which extends eastwards along the Glenelg River, and Discovery Bay National Park which stretches south-east along the coastline to Cape Bridgewater. Despite the beauty of the area, its relative remoteness means that it has undergone little commercialisation.
The beautiful Glenelg River exposes white limestone cliffs as it meanders through the Lower Glenelg National Park. River cruises regularly depart from Nelson, most stopping up river for those wishing to discover the wonders of the natural limestone cave formations in Princess Margaret Rose Caves or the natural beauty of the walking trail leading to spectacular views of the Glenelg River Gorge.
