Welcome to Meninge and Narrung, Located approximately 152 km south-east of Adelaide and situated along the shores of Lake Albert, these charming holiday destinations can be found at the northern end of The Coorong.
At Meninge, you will find large parklands that stretch along the edge of Lake Albert, together with the reeds and the large numbers of birds, all combine to make it a town of particular beauty.
Boating and Bird watching are just some of the attractions of this area with Lake Albert being a large inland sea that can cope with any size boat be it sailing or fishing or water sports.
Be sure to check out the Pink Salt Lake on your way down to the Coorong, these lakes are quite common in dryer areas and are coloured by the presence of algae known as beta caratine in the waters.
Poltalloch Homestead was built in 1876 at Narrung, this beautiful Victorian mansion is a reminder of the wealth that was generated in the area at this time. It is open for tours and overnight accommodation.
Narrung turnoff (Poltalloch Rd) is 28 kms south of Tailem Bend and 20 kms north of Meningie.
Poltalloch Station is 10 kms west of the Narrung turnoff.
The Narrung Ferry allows road traffic across the flatlands between Lake Albert and Lake Alexandrina. It is necessary to take the ferry across to the Tailem Bend side of the lake to reach Poltalloch Station.
Trig Hill Lookout is one of the few places which offers views over the town of Meninge and the surrounding areas. You can really appreciate the waterways and lakes that make up the famous Coorong from here.
The Point Malcolm Lighthouse is the smallest inland lighthouse in Australia. It was established to help guide paddlesteamers across Lake Albert and Lake Alexandrina in the bygone days.
