Padthaway
Located 291 km south-east of Adelaide, Padthaway is really little more than a few houses surrounded by Hardy's Padthaway Vineyards which stretch from the hills across the valley.
Historic Padthaway Homestead was built in 1882 and provides guest with old world accommodation, meals and hospitality. Offering meals and function facilities.
The Estate provides cellar door sales and tasting for the entire Padthaway region and is the focal point of the flourishing wine industry.
The old woolshed built in 1901 houses the Padthaway “Eliza” Estate winery with Australia’s only traditional French champagne press.
Stonehaven’s 10,000 tonne winery is situated south of Padthaway and is the most technically advanced in Australia. The combination of these technological advantages along with the winemaker expertise has resulted in some of the very finest examples of premium Australian wines.
The Cellar Door Sales and Function Centre is open from 10am to 4pm and gives the visitor a chance to taste the wines and take in the glorious surroundings.
Padthaway has a nine-hole winter golf course with scrapes overlooking the valley and town and welcomes visitors to this country style course, uniquely carved out of bushland, adjoining the caravan park.
Padthaway Conservation Park has a variety of enjoyable bushwalking tracks, Valley View Park and Gardens host an extensive range of native birds, animals, trees and flowers set in beautiful landscaped terraces.
Only eight kilometres from the town centre on Giles Road.
Along the Riddoch Highway between Willalooka and Padthaway, you will find an outcrop of granite boulders perched on top of a hill. Christmas Rocks offer 360 degree veiws of the landscape and in winter, you will see huge expanses of water that flood the surrounding land. A great place to stop, revive and stretch your legs.
