A project funded by the local Council, Lake McIntyre is a native wildlife and vegetation reserve. It has been created from an old quarry in which a spring was disturbed.
The area is a haven for birds and bird hides are provided. There are free BBQs and picnic areas, walking trails and toilets. Open daily until dusk. Free entry.
This is a fully accredited centre that provides extensive, up to date information of the region, as well as surrounding regions. Souvenirs, maps and local publications are also available.
The Admella Gallery is located within the Visitor Information Centre. It has for sale a large range of hand made craft and gift items, including pottery, glassware, toys and turned wood.
The Living History Museum, located next door to the Information Centre, has evolved around the old school house. The Millicent, Victoriana, Aboriginal and Natural History rooms are located here. Over 20 fully restored horse drawn vehicles are an impressive feature of the Museum. Other displays include the Shipwreck Room, a T Class Locomotive, operating Water Wheel, and a fully equipped Blacksmiths Shop. Entrance is via the Visitor Information Centre. Entry Fee.
Millicent Golf Club
Ranked 81 in the top 100 courses in Australia the Millicent Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 72, with an Australian course rating of 71, 6011 metres. The course features wide rolling couch and blended grass fairways and is a fully watered sand belt course with strategic bunkering and large true running greens.
Tantanoola Cave, named after the nearby town, is more or less a single big chamber. It is smaller than other show caves in South Australia, but it is famous for numerous beautiful speleothems. They call it the Prettiest Little Cave in the World.
This cave nestles inside an ancient marine cliff towering over the highway. The most impressive speleothems are numerous helictites.
The caves are in the 14 hectares large Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park.
